AYSL Board Makes Changes for the Fall Season

The Anderson Youth Soccer League Board of Director’s have implemented many changes and improvements for the
upcoming Fall soccer season. Changes are directly aimed at improving the soccer experience for our youth players.

First of all, the Board has brought in a League Trainer, Darby Anderson, former Simpson University Mens Soccer
Coach, to improve the quality of play and coaching throughout the entire league.  During preseason and the course
of the season, Darby will be working with all of Coaches, as well as our teams.  He will be assisting our coaches
in running their practices. Players will be challenged to improve their technical skills, tactical understanding,
physical and mental strengths, to develop as a more rounded player.

Soccer Fields - Don't the fields look great! We reseeded & fertilized the fields, and will be rolling them here shortly
to take out the slight bumps. The soccer playing fields are bigger! We have reconfigured the field sizes for all the age
playing divisions. For years, in order to accommodate all the playing divisions and various field sizes, the fields
although regulation size, were at the minimums. Now with the new layout, they are considerably larger, actually
matching the fields at Redding Soccer Park, the all-weather, synthetic-turf NCAA/USSF regulation sized fields in Redding.

Soccer Goal Wheels
- We have designed and permanently mounted goal wheels to the soccer goals, eliminating
kids from ever picking up the goals to move them. This resolves a huge safety issue and liability within our league.
Special thanks to Greg Merkel on this one!

The Board has modified the number of players on the field in the Under 6 age division. Starting this Fall the
Under 6’s will play with 5 players on the field. Formerly AYSL played with 4 players. This change will allow each player
to touch the ball more times during the game and allow them to be more involved.

For the Under 10 age division - Last year we changed to the 8v8 format, making us competitive and compatible
with CYSA and the state playoff format. By doing so, Darcie Stirton and her U10 Girls team, Hailstorm, placed 3rd in
State at the CYSA Founders Cup! This year the U10's will follow standard FIFA rules, with offsides being called. U10's
will also be eligible for District Cup play!

Uniforms - We have changed to a new uniform vendor for all the recreation teams with a second jersey
(no more pennies - U12 and above)

Another added feature this year, we added a set of Team Benches on the sidelines for the U12 and up field.
